Just what is a ‘gluten allergy’ anyway?

So what do people mean when they say they have a gluten allergy?

The condition often causes symptoms in your digestive system but can affect other parts of your body, too.

Nearly 1% of Americans have celiac disease.

Celiac disease and gluten sensitivityare not the same thing.

However, the condition can closely mimic celiac disease, making an accurate diagnosis a bit of a challenge.

There’s also no accurate way to knowhow many people have gluten sensitivity.

Ultimately, the term “gluten intolerance” will likely fall out of fashion entirely.

Dermatitis Herpetiformis

This is what’s known as the “gluten rash.

“Dermatitis herpetiformis is a red, incredibly itchy skin rashthat happens when you eat gluten.

People with gluten ataxia need to follow thegluten-free dietto avoid further neurological damage.

The allergy is more common in children than adults.
