The oral Nurtec (rimegepant) and Qulipta (atogepant) drugs are also consideredfirst-line preventive carefor migraine symptoms.
It has been found to play a role in migraines by causing dilation of cranial blood vessels.

Route of Administration
Aimovig, Ajovy, and Emgality are taken via subcutaneous injection.
Most people give themselves these injections into the thigh or belly after being taught how by a medical practitioner.
These CGRP inhibitors can also be injected into the upper arm by someone else.
Vyepti works a little differently in that a healthcare provider administers it intravenously (by IV).
The infusion is administered slowly over the course of 30 minutes.
Timing
None of the injectable CGRP inhibitors are taken every day.
Aimovig and Emgality are taken once a month as one or two successive shots, depending on the dose.
Vyepti is administered once every three months.
Allergic Reaction to Anti-CGRP Drugs
Taking a CGRP inhibitor can causeserious allergic reactionsin some people.
Nurtec can be used for both.
Nurtec, Ubrelvy, and Qulipta are taken orally, while Zavzpret is taken nasally.
The oral medications are taken on a daily basis.
The dosages vary, so talk with your healthcare provider about your dosing.
However, the oral doses of Qulipta can range from 10 mg to 60 mg per day.
Qulipta has been associated with constipation, and Qulipta and Ubrelvy have been associated with nausea.
