Teenage bodies are changing from child to adult and emotions are often all over the place.

Common illnesses among teenagers are somewhat unique as well.

The Common Cold

There’s a reason thatthe coldis called common.

It is the most commonly occurring illness in the world.

Most people who get the flu describe it as feeling like they have been hit by a truck.

Although otherwise healthy teens usually recover from the flu without any complications, the condition can be deadly.

Strep Throat

Strep throatis an infection in the throat because of the Streptococcus bacterium.

They can do an exam and swab the throat to test for the bacterium causing strep throat.

Mononucleosis

Mononucleosis, or mono, is sometimes called the kissing disease.

It earned this nickname because it is most common among teenagers, and it is spread through the saliva.

Symptoms of mono include severe fatigue, fever, sore throat, swollen lymph nodes, and sore muscles.

It is highly contagious, especially when someone who is infected doesn’t wash their hands well.

Vomiting, diarrhea, stomach cramps, and occasionally fever are common.

They can last anywhere from a few hours to several days.

The biggest concern when you have the stomach flu is dehydration.

If you might’t keep any fluids down at all for several hours, seek medical attention.
