Adecidualcast is a large, intact piece of the uterus lining expelled from the body during menstruation.

The collection of tissue, blood, and mucus retains the same shape as the uterus.

Its name is derived from the term for thickened endometrial tissue (decidual lining.)

Typically, tissue is expelled from the body in small pieces throughout amenstrual period.

It may have to do with how hormones affect cell-to-cell adhesion in the body.

Can a Decidual Cast Be a Miscarriage?

A decidual cast and amiscarriageare different conditions, but they share similar symptoms of severe abdominal pain and bleeding.

There is no fetus or embryo in a decidual castit only contains tissue from the uterine lining.

However, once a decidual cast is passed, it usually rules out other causes of the symptoms.

Decidual casts are not associated with any long-term health consequences.

Its symptoms, such as severe cramps and abdominal pain, typically go away immediately following its passage.
