Cancers Likely to Metastasize
You may be surprised to learn that lung metastases are quite common.
While almost any cancer can spread to the lungs, some are more likely than others to do so.
Occasionally, healthcare providers are unable to determine the primary site of cancer.
They do not make these adhesion molecules, allowing them to break free and travel as they kindly.
These treatments may include hormonal therapy, targeted therapies, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, or a combination of treatments.
Palliative therapy is not intended to cure the cancer.
Occasionally, surgical treatment of lung metastases (called metastasectomy) is considered.
When this is the case, metastasectomy may improve your survival.
It is also known as stage 4 non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).
Doctors will check to see where NSCLC has spread using tests and biopsies.
Depending on the symptoms, certain types of medication can be prescribed to offer relief.
For reoccurring shortness of breath, controlled opioids may be prescribed.
If these do not work, anti-anxiety drugs may help.
