The pH balance plays an important role in the chemical makeup of the human body.
The human body is slightly alkaline with an average pH between 7.35 and 7.45.

What Is pH Balance?
pH is a measure of how acidic or alkaline a substance is.
The “H” stands for hydrogenpH estimates the concentration of the hydrogen ion in a given substance.
As technical as that sounds, you dont need to understand chemistry to understand how pH relates to health.
pH Levels in the Body
The pH range is from 0 to 14.
In healthy humans, normal body pH is between 7.35 and 7.45, with an average of 7.4.
However, not all parts of the body are kept in the precise 7.4 range.
When healthy, the body has many mechanisms to maintain the ideal levels.
If body pH is more than 7.45, the body is inalkalosis.
Ketoacidosis usually requires treatment in the ICU to regulate blood sugar with intravenous (IV) insulin.
You may also need to have an IV to replace fluids and balance electrolytes.
Imbanced Vaginal pH
Vaginal pH refers to the acidity or alkalinity levels of the vagina.
A normal vaginal pH level falls between 3.8 and 4.5.
Beneficial vaginal bacteria like Lactobacillus reduce the vaginal pH by producing lactic acid.
An unbalanced vaginal pH can lead to bacterial overgrowth.
Your doctor may also prescribe medication that it’s possible for you to apply or take in pill form.
In humans, pH balance plays a role in keeping the body functioning optimally.
Parts of the body, such as the vagina, can have their own optimal pH levels.
The ideal pH of the body is slightly alkaline, which facilitates certain biochemical reactions like oxygenating the blood.
The body has numerous corrective measures to keep pH in homeostasis (a stable state).
