Paresis is sometimes called partial paralysis.
However, paresis is not the same asparalysis.

In many cases, the underlying issue occurs in a separate location from the weak area of the body.
Types
There are several different types of paresis.
They’re typically named for the number of regions that are impacted by weakness.
If some of these sound familiar, it’s because they have a similar definition to types of paralysis.
For example, paraparesis affects the same body areas as paraplegia.
Because of this, a wide variety of other symptoms can occur along with the loss of motor function.
Diagnosis
A thorough evaluation by a neurologist is a crucial step in diagnosing paresis.
Unfortunately, many types of paresis have no cure.
This same treatment strategy is also utilized for more progressive conditions, like multiple sclerosis or ALS.
The progression of the paresis from these debilitating issues may also be slowed with the help of certain medications.
These may include stroke, spinal cord injuries, and seizure.
